Running is a great way to stay fit, relieve stress, and enjoy the outdoors. But unfortunately, no sport is without risks. Injuries are a common occurrence, especially if you’re just starting out or trying to do too much too soon. Let’s take a look at some of the most common running injuries and what you can do about them.
Blisters: The notorious game breaker
Blisters are perhaps the most common nag of runners. They are caused by friction between your foot and your shoe, and can make every step a painful memory. Research shows that a significant percentage of runners, including ultra runners, have experienced blisters at some point. That’s a high percentage!
What can you do? Make sure your shoes fit well and wear moisture-wicking socks. Special socks that reduce friction by holding your foot more firmly in your shoe can help. No more sliding, so less chance of blisters!
